Meme Thomas is the Director of Baltimore Honey, an urban honeybee steward (Beekeeper) and the owner of Earthscape Design, a landscape and environmental design firm located in Baltimore City, Maryland. Meme Thomas is the Queenbee of honeybee stewardship (beekeeper), a member of the AFB-American Federation of Beekeepers, EAS-Eastern Apiculture Society, BUMBA Bowie Upper Marlboro Beekeepers Association, and HCBA - Howard County Beekeepers Association. Meme received the Maryland State Beekeepers Association 2010 George Imirie Award for excellence in beekeeping education. Meme holds a Master Degree in Landscape Architecture and is an American Society of Landscape Architecture member.
Baltimore Honey is a not for profit organization with a mission to foster natural methods and practices for honeybee health while maximizing local honeybee pollination cover for food security along with educational outreach about the importance of local honeybees in our environment as pollinators.Baltimore Honey‘s mission is accomplished through the first-of-its-kind anywhere, Community Supported Apiary (CSA) model. To date, Baltimore Honey has placed over 34 hives in to over 24 community supported apiaries in the City of Baltimore nine neighborhood districts as well as forming Public and Private partnerships. Baltimore Honey is engaged with partners in expanding the CSA model into Maryland.
